In the underwater world of today’s Caska there are remains of the sunken town of Cissa that existed from ancient times until the end of the 4th century. Novalja was Cissa’s port and one of the most important nodes on the maritime waterway from the Mediterranean to the ancient city of Aquileia. Impressive monuments of the towns of Zadar and Šibenik testify to their significance throughout history. A unique medieval festival with knightly games, the story about the patron saint of the town, and the Renaissance and Gothic portals are only some of interesting attractions of the medieval town of Rab. An ancient bronze statue of the athlete Apoxyomenos was found near the island of Lošinj. It is a sensational discovery, in that it is the only large bronze statue found on the eastern Adriatic coast so far and is the best preserved statue of the nine known variants of the Apoxyomenos prototype so far.
